BSA WINTERFEST APP Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the BSA Winterfest mobile app collects, why, and who else sees it. It covers the app only. Winterfest is open to participants aged 14 and over.

What we collect, and why

Your email address. You give it to us when you sign in. We send a 6-digit code to it to confirm it is you, and we use it to find the tickets you bought.
 

Your name and your ticket purchase history. These come from your ticket order. We show them in the My Tickets tab and print your name on your event pass.
 

Photos you submit to the Gatlinburg Goosehunt. The Goosehunt is optional. If you play it, each photo you submit is uploaded and stored, along with your team name and your email address, so we can award your team its points and settle any scoring question. If you never play the Goosehunt, we never receive a photo from you.
 

A notification identifier for your phone. So we can send you event announcements, your phone is given an anonymous identifier. It is not linked to your name or your email — it identifies a phone, not a person. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app's Profile tab, or in your phone's settings.

Basic app usage. How many times the app is opened, and whether a notification was tapped. We use this only to check that announcements are reaching people during the event.

Permissions the app asks for

We ask only when you first use the feature, and you can say no to any of them. Saying no only turns off that one feature.

• Camera and photo library — to take or choose a photo for a Goosehunt mission. We only receive the photos you actually submit

• Calendar — to add a session you starred to your own calendar. This is write-only: we add events, we cannot read your calendar, and nothing about your calendar leaves your phone

• Notifications — to send event announcements

What we do not collect

We do not collect your location, your contacts, your microphone, your health data, or your browsing history. The app has no advertising, and nothing in it tracks you across other companies' apps or websites.
 

We never see your card details. Payment happens in Wix's own secure checkout. Your card number does not pass through the app and we have no access to it.

Who else sees your information

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with anyone for marketing. We share it only with the services that make the app work:

• Wix — hosts our website, stores ticket orders, and handles payments

• OneSignal — delivers push notifications. Receives your phone's notification identifier and whether a notification was tapped. It never receives your name or email

• Google — Goosehunt photos, team names and submission records are stored in Google Drive and Google Sheets, in an account controlled by the Winterfest organising team

• Apple and Google Wallet — only if you choose to add a ticket to your phone's wallet
   

Each of these handles the information on our behalf, under their own security terms.

Who can see Goosehunt photos
Photos you submit are visible to the Winterfest team members running the Goosehunt. They are not published, not posted publicly by the app, and not shown to other teams. Scores appear on the in-app leaderboard by team name only — never by an individual's name.

How long we keep it
Ticket orders are kept as part of our event records. Goosehunt photos and submission records are kept until the end of the event season and then deleted. Notification identifiers are removed when you uninstall the app or turn notifications off.

Participants under 18

Winterfest is open to participants aged 14 and over, so most participants are under 18. We collect the same limited information from everyone, and we do not build profiles, advertise to anyone, or share anything for marketing.
 

A parent or guardian can ask us to remove their child's information at any time, including any Goosehunt photos, by emailing info@bsawinterfest.org. We will remove it and confirm in writing.

Getting your information removed
Email info@bsawinterfest.org. We will remove your details from our event records, delete any Goosehunt photos you submitted, and confirm in writing.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
